Longoar Bay is a quiet beach on the eastern side of Great Castle Head. It consists of sand, rocks and rockpools bordered by cliffs of mudstone and sandstone. A bridleway leads northwards from Great Castle Head across fields to meet the Sandy Haven - St Ishmaels road at Grid Ref: SM846072. There is plenty of space for roadside parking here. Alternative parking is at St Ishmaels (see Lindsway Bay).
Access to the beach is tricky. The only route down is a narrow path roughly at the centre of the bay, which is easily missed. You need to look for a narrow gap in the blackthorn bushes, from where a slightly overgrown path leads down to the rocks at the back of the beach.
It's worth checking the wind direction before coming here as an easterly wind will bring the aroma of the oil refineries wafting this way.
